Welcome Notes

Günther H. Oettinger

Minister President Günther H. Oettinger

Patron of the Creativity World Forum 2009

The realization of creativity and knowledge in innovation, as well as added value is decisive for the international competitiveness of locations. Baden-Württemberg is one of the regions in Europe with the greatest strength in innovation. The lively correlation of talents, technology and tolerance creates an excellent atmosphere for lasting growth.

The creative industry as a driver of innovation and growth is playing an increasingly important role in this context. Even now the German South West is a significant centre for film, architecture, media, design and pop music. The Creativity World Forum 2009 in Baden-Württemberg during the European Year of Creativity and Innovation offers decision-makers from all over the world an ideal platform to further advance the connection between the creative industry and branches in other industries.

Host of the Creativity World Forum 2009

It is an enormous privilege and a pleasure for us to host the Creativity World Forum 2009 for the first time in Germany. At this annual key event staged by the international Districts of Creativity network, thirteen exceptionally innovative regions from around the world including Baden-Württemberg come together to exchange strategies for innovation and location policy.

Baden-Württemberg is synonymous with creative minds, new technological solutions and innovations driven by global industrial players, medium-sized family-run firms and new business start-ups. Our aim in holding this event is consequently to intensify international cooperation between the Districts of Creativity, to showcase Baden-Württemberg as a region of innovation and a location of creative industries, and also to support the processes of cluster formation and internationalization. I cordially invite you to be a part of this
exciting event.

Host of the Creativity World Forum 2009

The creative industry is undergoing digital change. Fields of business that were traditionally separate are increasingly merging. Innovative technologies offer media experts, games and software developers, as well as architects, engineers and designers, even more opportunities and new business models. In return, creative people supply relevant content which fills these new technologies with life and makes them into marketable products.

As the Innovation Agency for IT and Media, the MFG has been working on networking the creative industries with relevant technology sectors for many years on a regional, national and also international level. We are thereforevery pleased to host the Creativity World Forum in our homestate, together with the Ministry of Economics, thus creating an international meeting place for interdisciplinary exchange. It is certainly a wonderful end to theEuropean Year of Creativity and Innovation!

I wish you all the best for an inspirational exchange of ideas.
